About Mike

Mike is currently combining a Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford with delivery of a Leadership Assessment and Development programme for Senior Officers in the Royal Navy. He is the founder of Human Systems Leadership. 

Mike has led, and been a key advisor to, numerous successful organisational transformations across the private, public and third sector in the UK and internationally. Recent assignments have included improving one of the biggest recruiting operations in the UK, delivering increased wellbeing in one of the world's most successful organisations and leading a series of leadership development and culture change interventions across Zambia. Prior to that he designed and delivered, through to ministerial approval, a major change programme in Central Asia. Closer to home he was Dean of a large in-house training organisation which became the first institution of its kind to be awarded an 'Outstanding' assessment by OFSTED. Before that he headed an internal consultancy unit tasked with transforming a large government department and, through this role, provided regular leadership and change expertise throughout the UK Public Sector and internationally. He also spent four years as the Royal Navy's Head of Leadership and Management Development developing the model on which their leadership selection and training is based. 

Mike holds two Masters degrees with dissertations in leadership, a Doctorate in Business Administration and is a Visiting Fellow of Henley Business School. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting he is also a Certified Management Consultant, Coach and Supervisor. His contribution to leadership development was acknowledged by the award of an MBE in the 2005 Birthday Honours List. 

Mike has been the author, and subject, of numerous articles on leadership and change in both national papers and academic journals.
